In a post on his social media platform X on Friday, billionaire Elon Musk revealed that his artificial intelligence startup xAI’s latest Grok-1.5 chatbot will be available on X next week. Musk expressed confidence that the upcoming “Grok 2 should exceed current AI on all metrics” and is currently in training.
Grok-1.5: An Enhanced AI Conversational Agent
According to xAI’s statement on Thursday, Grok-1.5, an enhanced version of their chatbot Grok, will be made accessible to early testers and existing Grok users on the X platform in the coming days. This move comes after Musk announced earlier this month that xAI would open-source Grok, following his decision to sue Microsoft-backed OpenAI for allegedly prioritizing profit over its original mission.
Musk’s AI Ambitions Take Shape
Launched last year, Elon Musk’s xAI startup aims to compete with industry giants like OpenAI, behind the popular ChatGPT, and Alphabet’s Google in the artificial intelligence chatbot arena. The release of Grok-1.5 on X, followed by the promised Grok 2, represents Musk’s efforts to develop a formidable AI offering capable of surpassing current market leaders.
