The National Scholarship Portal is a central application and tracking platform for many government schemes, but it does not mean every student qualifies for every listing. Read the scheme’s current guidelines and dates. Requirements can change between academic years.
Build your eligibility profile
Create one record containing your course, year, institution, marks, state or domicile, family income, category or disability status where relevant, and whether you are applying fresh or renewing. Use it to screen schemes before spending time on an application.
Never change or hide information to appear eligible. Verification may involve the institution, state authority, DigiLocker, Aadhaar-linked processes, or other records depending on the scheme.
Prepare a document folder
- Recent academic records and admission proof.
- Fee receipt or official fee structure where requested.
- Income, domicile, caste, disability, or other certificates required by the scheme.
- Bank-account details belonging to the correct beneficiary and matching official records.
- Aadhaar or enrolment information only when the official scheme requires it.
- A clear photo, signature, and correctly sized scans.
Name files clearly and keep an offline backup. Check spelling, numbers, and dates across every document. A mismatch in name or bank details can delay verification or payment.

Avoid scholarship scams
- Do not pay an unofficial “guarantee” fee for an award.
- Open government portals by typing the official address or following a verified government link.
- Never share an OTP, UPI PIN, password, or remote screen access with a caller.
- Verify a foundation through its official domain, registration details, published selection process, and independent contact route.
- Keep application IDs and documents private; they can support identity fraud.

After submission
Save the final form, acknowledgement, and application ID. Check the official portal rather than trusting messages. Respond promptly to a genuine correction request, and confirm that your institution has completed its verification step. For renewals, record the next academic year’s requirements early.
