Suryakumar Yadav’s exceptional 78 off 53 deliveries, coupled with Jasprit Bumrah’s game-changing spell, proved pivotal in Mumbai’s triumph.
Suryakumar’s Stellar Knock
Batting first, Suryakumar Yadav anchored Mumbai’s innings with a well-paced 78, his 17th score of 75 or more in T20 cricket. Despite the challenging wicket, he got off to a brisk start, unleashing his signature shots, including a whipped six off Kagiso Rabada and an inside-out six over extra cover.
Tilak Varma’s Finishing Flourish
While Rohit Sharma (36) struggled for strike, MI found momentum in the latter stages, scoring 62 runs off the final five overs. Tilak Varma’s blistering 18-ball 34, including two boundaries and a six off Rabada, provided the finishing kick, propelling MI to an imposing 192/7.

With PBKS needing 28 off the final three overs, Bumrah’s penultimate over kept them at bay, conceding just three runs. Despite Kagiso Rabada’s valiant six off the final over, Mumbai’s disciplined bowling and fielding ensured they prevailed by nine runs, securing their third victory of the season.
Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional bowling figures of 3/21 and Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant 78 were the standout performances for MI, enabling them to hold their nerves in a nail-biting final-over thriller against PBKS.
As the IPL season progresses, both teams will look to build on their performances, with PBKS hosting Gujarat Titans on Sunday and MI facing table-toppers Rajasthan Royals on Monday.
